PERMANENT MAKEUP CONTRAINDICATIONS

The following list of conditions and/or situations are contraindicated for PMU and will determine whether or not you are a candidate:
 

  • Eczema (in the treated area)

  • Psoriasis (in the treated area)

  • Keratosis Pilaris (in the treated area)

  • Dermatitis (itchy and flaky skin in the treated area)

  • Moles/Bumps/Piercings, Raised Skin (in treated area)

  • Trichotillomania (in treated area)

  • Botox (must wait 3 weeks following botox if in treated area)

  • Sunburn/Suntan (in treated area - must wait until skin returns to normal color)

  • Blood Thinners (microblading will create excessive bleeding)

  • Heart Conditions (oftentimes taking blood thinners)

  • Hemophilia (excessive bleeding if microbladed)

  • Pregnant (Absolutely not!)

  • Breast-feeding (Absolutely not!)

  • Rosacea (Microblading skin too sensitive and will not hold color)

  • Sensitive Skin (Microblading skin too sensitive will not hold color)

  • Chronic Acne/Excessively Oily Skin (microblading only hairstrokes will blur together)

  • Large Pores (in eyebrow area will cause hairstrokes to blur together)

  • Thin-Skinned (Microblading not suitable skin to fragile and hypersensitive)

  • Previous Permanent Eyebrows (Microblading not suitable microblading will not implant properly)

  • Autoimmune Diseases (such as Lupus, Frontal Fibrosing Alopecia - skin health is too compromised for microblading)

  • Allergic to Anaesthetic (e.g. Lidocaine)

  • Active Herpes outbreak (cold sore)

  • Auto immune disease (let your technician know about any)

  • Chemo therapy (6 months after)

  • Glaucoma (no eyeliner due to pressure during procedure)

Contraindications
Pre / aftercare

CAUTIONS
  • You should not take aspirin, ibuprofen or anti-inflammatories from 3 days before.

  • Do not drink alcohol from the night before your procedure.

  • No coffee, or exercise stimulants with caffeine (like BioPlus) on the morning of your procedure.

  • Retin A and Retinols should be stopped 7 days before, and should not be used for 3 weeks after procedures. Using these too soon can cause the pigment to fade.

  • You should stop taking all vitamin supplements at least 3 days before, and very important to stop taking any Omega 3 supplements, Vitamin E supplements 7 days before, as these thin the blood and can result in excessive bruising and pigment migration.

  • Don't plan a facial, peel with acids, fibroblast or microneedling within 7 days before your procedure, and 2 weeks after.

30 DAYS PRIOR

NO Chemical Peels,  Botox

7 DAYS PRIOR

No Tanning, Sunbed

No Plucking, Waxing,  Tinting, Threading

No Retinol, Retin A,  other acne creams

48 HOURS PRIOR

No Asprin, Ibuprofen, Vit E, Fish Oil

24HOURS PRIOR

No Caffiene / Alcohol

3 DAYS PRIOR

Eyelash extensions, should be removed  minimum 3 days before your eyeliner appointment .

 

At least 3 days before the treatment, avoid consuming medicine such as aspirin, ibuprofen, coumadin, niacin, fish oil,and vitamin E. (These thin your blood and make you bleed more during the procedure)

Avoid lash lifts and dyes for a minimum of 2 days before the procedure, although longer than that would be better (about 2 weeks). .

 

24 HOURS PRIOR

Avoid drinking alcohol and caffeine at least 24 hours before your appointment. (These are also blood-thinners.) If you are wearing contact lenses you should know that you won’t be able to wear them during the procedure nor for the next 24 hours.

 

AFTER PROCEDURE

After the treatment, your eyes may be sensitive to the light so bring sunglasses to protect them.

2 WEEKS PRIOR

For clients with ANY history of cold sores/fever blisters/herpes, please contact your physician and request a prescription to prevent/treat breakout. Please note that Lip Blushing can only be performed 4 weeks after your most recent outbreak. The prescription does not guarantee the avoidance of an outbreak, but reduces the likelihood one occurs. All other questions or concerns should be discussed with your physician No exfoliating facial treatments or peels No Botox injections Limit use of anti-aging products (which include retinol, retinoic acid, vitamin C, hydroxy acids, niacinamide, etc.) on or near the lips

1 WEEK PRIOR

Avoid wearing lip stick Do not tan and avoid exposure to the sun (no sunburns)

24 HOURS  PRIOR

No caffeine or alcohol prior to your appointment (sorry coffee-lovers)

NB!!! SCRUB LIPS LIGHTLY WITH SUGAR FOR 5-7 DAYS PRIOR
